This video is a step-by-step guide to setting up WooCommerce in Autorespond, so you can configure the basic settings easily.
Video structure #
Step 1: check the WooCommerce settings 0:01
- Start by opening the WooCommerce settings through the Shop > Shop settings menu.
- Check that the shop address details are set correctly.
- Make sure the country is set correctly for tax purposes (usually the Netherlands or Belgium).
Step 2: check the tax settings 3:05
- Check the tax rates that have been set for the Netherlands and Belgium.
- Adjust the tax rules for other countries if needed.
Step 3: check the email settings 3:54
- Check that the email address for order notifications is set correctly.
- Change the email address if needed, and add an extra email address for notifications if you like.
- You decide for yourself which email notifications are sent.
- You can adjust the standard layout of the order emails as required (scroll down on the email settings page)
- The WooCommerce order emails are sent from a [email protected] email address. We will set this up properly for you when you go live.
Step 4: set up the product page 7:44
- The standard shop page with all products is set to youradmindomain.com/shop . You can change this by creating another page and setting that page as the shop page.
Step 5: reviews for orders 9:08
- The option to leave a testimonial or review for a product is switched on by default, but only for customers who already have a completed order containing that product.
Step 6: set up stock control 10:06
- Decide whether you need stock control for physical products.
- Switch on stock control if needed.
Step 7: confirm the tax settings 11:18
- By default we have set the product prices you enter to be exclusive of tax.
- Confirm that tax is calculated on the basis of the customer billing address.
Step 8: check the shipping and payment settings 14:47
- You can add advanced shipping costs based on the customer location.
Step 9: check the Accounts & Privacy settings 16:13
- By default customers can check out as a ‘guest’, without having to create a user account. For subscriptions, though, it is useful to have an account created, because customers can then manage their own subscription in their ‘my account’ area.
Step 10: check the subscription settings 18:07
- By default customers can create several subscription products within the same order.
- You may also want to check the settings for sending an announcement email before renewal, and the setting that lets customers upgrade or downgrade their own subscription if you offer tiered subscriptions (‘bronze’, ‘silver’ and ‘gold’ subscriptions, for example).
Tips #
- Make sure you check all settings carefully before you go live.
- Incorrect tax settings can lead to problems that are easy to avoid.
- Also check that the terms and privacy pages are set up correctly.
- Use the default settings where possible to save time.
- Document any changes you make for future reference.
