This guide belongs to the Shop & sales funnels module. It is part of Email + Shop and Everything, and you can also add it to your plan on its own. See what the module does
If you try to move the Cart, Checkout, My account or Shop page to the bin or set it to draft, you see a message saying your shop needs this page (currently shown in Dutch: “je shop heeft deze pagina nodig”). That is not an error: these pages are the fixed parts of your webshop and they are protected.
Which pages are protected #
- Shop: the overview of your products.
- Cart: where your customer sees what they are about to buy.
- Checkout: where your customer pays. The payment links in invoices and renewal emails also point to this page.
- My account: where your customer sees their orders, subscriptions and downloads.
- Terms and conditions and Refund policy, as long as you have linked them to your shop and they are published.
If your site is in several languages, this also applies to the translations of these pages.
Why it works this way #
Without these pages your customer cannot check out. An example: if the checkout page is missing, the renewal email for a subscription contains a payment button that goes nowhere. You only find out when a customer tells you that paying doesn’t work. That is why these pages always stay published, even if someone in your team tidies them away by accident.
What you can change #
- The title of the page.
- The slug (the part of the web address), for example /payment/ instead of /checkout/.
- The content and the layout: you can add text above or below the cart or checkout block and design the page in your own style.
Then simply save the page as you are used to.
What if a page is missing anyway #
Every night a check runs to see whether these pages still exist and are published. If they are not, the page is restored and our support team is notified. You don’t need to do anything yourself.
Do you still want one of these pages gone? #
That is only possible if you no longer use the shop. In that case send a ticket to support and we will look at the best solution together.
