Choosing a subdomain for Autorespond #
When you migrate to the new Autorespond, you choose the subdomain your administration goes live on. The subdomain becomes the address where you log in and where your forms and shop pages can be reached.
Popular subdomain choices #
The most frequently chosen subdomain names are:
- my., for example my.yourcompany.com
- welcome., for example welcome.yourcompany.com
- shop., for example shop.yourcompany.com
- platform., for example platform.yourcompany.com
- admin., for example admin.yourcompany.com
- app., for example app.yourcompany.com
You can choose any subdomain you like, as long as it is not already in use on your domain.
When do customers see the subdomain #
Your customers normally do not need to visit the subdomain at all. You can embed forms on your main website so visitors stay there. The subdomain does become visible in:
- Shop links and checkout pages (if you use the shop module)
- Sales funnel pages
- Direct links to specific forms
- The URL you use to log in to your own Autorespond administration
Website module: main domain possible #
If you take the website module, you can also choose to put Autorespond live on your main domain (for example yourcompany.com). That replaces your current website completely.
DNS settings #
You do not have to create the subdomain in advance at your hosting provider. After the onboarding period we send you the exact DNS records that need to be added to the DNS of your main domain. Once you confirm that these records have been added, we put the system live.
Frequently asked questions #
Can I switch to a different subdomain later? #
Changing a subdomain name is technically possible but requires manual work. That is why it is important to make the right choice straight away during the migration.
Do customers have to remember the subdomain? #
No, you can embed forms on your main website so customers stay there. They only see the subdomain in the URL for shop links and direct form links.
Which subdomain should I choose? #
Choose a name that suits your brand and is easy to remember. ‘my’, ‘welcome’ and ‘shop’ are popular choices because they come across as clear and friendly.
